How it works:

1) ADS Career Pathways meets with client and all concerned parties (transition staff, counselor, teacher, guardian, etc) to determine appropriate career areas to explore.
Interested and eligible students and clients will then initiate paperwork for the Job Shadows.

If client or student is a minor, there will be several forms for parents or responsible parties to sign, and it’s best to have the teacher’s assistance while working with the parents with regards to the signing and returning of all forms.

2) ADS Career Pathways then sets up Job Shadow sites as per the appropriate Career Interests.
Generally for High school students, Job Shadows occur during the school day and ADS/CP will provide all transportation, and meals when necessary.
Career Pathways will work with client and family or staff
(with regards to scheduling) before the sites are set up.

HOWEVER, ONCE THE SITES ARE SET UP, THEY CANNOT BE CANCELLED OR CHANGED.

(When cancellations occur, they negatively affect the willingness of that workplace to host Job Shadows in the future.)

3) All Job Shadows are supervised at all times, and will be scheduled to have minimal effect on the student’s classes when applicable.
